A 4-Hour Foundational Course on Medications, Massage Considerations, and Client Safety

While massage therapists do not prescribe or diagnose, we frequently work with clients who take medications for pain, inflammation, blood pressure, anxiety, sleep disorders, immune suppression, and more. This course provides a foundational understanding of common drug categories, their effects on the body, and how they may influence massage therapy practice. In this 4-hour class, students will learn to identify red flags, ask thoughtful intake questions, and safely modify sessions for clients whose medication use affects tissue integrity, energy levels, circulation, or clotting. This is a practical, non-intimidating introduction to pharmacology designed specifically for the bodywork profession.
