Pathologies of the Endocrine & Reproductive Systems

PATH-0305 - Pathologies of the Endocrine & Reproductive Systems

Hormonal Imbalance, Metabolic Disease, Reproductive Health and Massage Considerations

The endocrine system regulates some of the body’s most vital functions—including metabolism, stress response, growth, reproduction, and energy levels—through a delicate balance of hormones. When that balance is disrupted by disease or dysfunction, clients may present with fatigue, weight changes, mood shifts, tissue fragility, or systemic inflammation that requires thoughtful adaptation in massage therapy. This 4-hour course explores key pathologies of the endocrine system including diabetes, thyroid dysfunction, adrenal fatigue, metabolic syndromes, and hormonal imbalances. Students will learn to recognize red flags, support client safety, and confidently adjust bodywork to accommodate systemic, energetic, and metabolic changes.

The reproductive system is intimately connected to identity, vitality, hormonal balance, and emotional well-being. For massage therapists, it is essential to understand how reproductive health conditions—ranging from menstrual and pelvic pain to prostate disorders, hormonal shifts, pregnancy, and cancer—affect client comfort, bodywork adaptations, and therapeutic boundaries.
This 4-hour course explores common reproductive system pathologies for all sexes and genders, focusing on clinical considerations, trauma sensitivity, and appropriate scope of practice. Through compassionate discussion and evidence-informed knowledge, therapists will leave empowered to support clients experiencing reproductive challenges with both skill and respect.
