This foundational course provides a thorough introduction to the ancient practice of Thai massage, tailored specifically for professional manual therapists, including licensed massage therapists and physical therapists. Traditional Thai massage, often called ""lazy person's yoga,"" combines elements of acupressure, yoga, and rhythmic compression to create a unique therapeutic experience that promotes balance, flexibility, and wellbeing. Unlike Western massage modalities, Thai massage is traditionally performed on a mat with clients fully clothed and without oils. This approach creates a dynamic therapeutic environment where practitioners can utilize their entire body for leverage and support, reducing strain while delivering effective treatment. Throughout the course, students will explore the philosophical foundations of Thai massage, rooted in Buddhist principles and traditional Thai medicine.
