In this second course of the MBLExsplained series, we dive into the real-world dimensions of massage therapy. Students preparing for the MBLEx will review and integrate the full scope of professional practice, ethics, technique application, assessment, special populations, pathology, pharmacology, and business essentials. We use interactive review methods, case-based learning, group discussion, and mock exam questions to bring concepts to life and ensure readiness—not just for the exam, but for a career grounded in skill, integrity, and confidence.

By the end of the course, students will be able to:

Define and describe professional standards, historical foundations, and cultural contexts of bodywork
Apply knowledge of client assessment, session execution, and communication skills
Understand laws, scope of practice, boundaries, and ethics as defined by FSMTB
Identify key massage techniques and their appropriate applications
Assess client health histories, postural issues, pain, ROM, and contraindications
Understand tissue healing, medication side effects, and relevant pathology for massage
Navigate the basics of employment, marketing, finance, and clinical professionalism
